At King Smart Wood Shop, craftsmanship is personal. Based in Barrie, Ontario, this proudly Canadian one-man wood shop (plus one very supportive girlfriend!) is all about making thoughtful, handcrafted goods from beautiful hardwoods like maple, cherry, and walnut.

I design and build every piece myself—from the first sketch to the final finish. My focus is on creating tabletop games, toys, and home goods that are both fun and functional. Whether it’s a classic cribbage board, a satisfying game of four in a row, or a smooth, functional set of coasters, each item is built with care and attention to detail.

Some of my work involves the help of a CNC router, which lets me bring more complex ideas to life with accuracy and consistency. But make no mistake—every piece is still very much handmade. I handle the design, programing, assembly, sanding, and finishing right here in my small shop, with a little extra help (and a lot of encouragement) from my girlfriend, who’s always ready to lend a hand or share kind words—especially at our pop-up markets.
